Become a Pangolin Guardian
Pangolins are the most trafficked mammals on earth — and among the most extraordinary. Covered in overlapping keratin scales, these shy, solitary creatures are Africa’s greatest natural secret. All eight pangolin species are now threatened with extinction, poached relentlessly for a global illegal trade driven by demand for their scales and meat. Ranger Buck Safaris does not offer a dedicated pangolin-only safari, because finding a pangolin in the wild is one of Africa’s rarest encounters — not something any honest guide can promise. What we do offer is something different. Ranger Buck has become a Pangolin Guardian through Pangolin.Africa’s free online programme, and he is now challenging every guest, fellow wildlife lover and safari dreamer to do the same.
A Challenge With Purpose
The Pangolin.Africa Guardian programme is a free, two-part online course that takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. It teaches participants what makes pangolins so biologically unique, why they are under such devastating pressure, and what to do if they ever encounter one in the wild. On completion, participants receive a Pangolin Guardian certificate and join a growing global community of people speaking up for Africa’s most elusive mammal.
This is not a passive experience. It is Ranger Buck’s personal challenge to every person who believes Africa’s wildlife deserves a future — and it starts before you even board a flight. For guests who want to go further, Ranger Buck Safaris can arrange a visit to an accredited pangolin sanctuary as part of a tailor-made itinerary. Here you will meet the rescuers and rehabilitators working on the ground, learn how injured and trafficked pangolins are treated and prepared for release, and understand what it truly takes to give these animals a second chance.
A Once-in-a-Lifetime Commitment
Most safari travellers return home with memories of lions, leopards and elephants. A Pangolin Guardian comes home with something more: a certificate, a responsibility, and a story most people will never be able to tell. Whether you complete the online course from your living room or combine your Guardian pledge with a sanctuary visit during your safari, you become part of a movement that is slowly turning the tide for one of Africa’s most imperilled animals. Every awareness certificate issued, every sighting reported through Pangolert, and every ethical safari that flows revenue into protected landscapes helps keep pangolin conservation visible, funded and possible. The challenge starts today. Ranger Buck has already accepted it.

Watch: Eye of the Pangolin
This ground-breaking documentary follows two men on a mission to capture all four African pangolin species on camera. Made open source by Pangolin.Africa so that its message can reach as many people as possible, Eye of the Pangolin is one of the most powerful conservation films ever made about these extraordinary creatures. Watch it, share it, and help others understand why pangolins deserve protection. Note: the film is not suitable for children under 13.
