The Ultimate Bush & City Combination
Planning a safari from across the Atlantic can be daunting. You want to ensure the long flight is worth it, and you want to feel safe every step of the way. We designed this 10-day luxury package specifically for US travelers who want to experience South Africa’s “Bucket List”—the Sabi Sand Big 5, Table Mountain, and the Cape Winelands—without the stress of navigating a foreign country yourself.
Why this is perfect for you: We know that time is your most valuable asset. By utilizing private Federal Air flights directly into the reserve, we eliminate long drives on unfamiliar roads. From the moment you land at O.R. Tambo International, you are in our care. This is the exact route we recommend to our American clients visiting Africa for the first time.
Curator Notes: Why We Chose These Specific Stops
Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge (Sabi Sand): We chose this lodge for its location in the South-Western sector of the Sabi Sand. This area has one of the highest densities of leopard populations in the world. Unlike public parks, the private reserve allows our vehicles to go off-road, ensuring you get the National Geographic-style sightings you came for.
Cape Grace (Cape Town): Safety and location are everything. The Cape Grace sits on its own private quay in the V&A Waterfront with 24/7 security. You are walking distance from the city’s best dining, yet you feel completely removed from the bustle.
Mont Rochelle (Franschhoek): Owned by Sir Richard Branson, this estate offers world-class hospitality that US travelers appreciate. We love it for the private picnics in the vineyards—a distinct contrast to the wild bush.
Your Day-by-Day Itinerary
Days 1-3: The Sabi Sand Wilderness
Arrival & Private Charter Flight
Your journey begins with a VIP meet-and-greet at O.R. Tambo International (JNB) right as you step off your Delta or United flight. We escort you directly to the private Federal Air lounge to refresh before your short flight into the bush. Upon landing on the private airstrip, your ranger will be waiting. You will check into Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge, your home for the next three nights.
Daily Rhythm: Morning game drive (05:30), breakfast, relaxation (great for adjusting to jet lag), high tea, evening game drive (16:00), and boma dinner under the stars.
💡 Ranger’s Tip: Use Day 1 to adjust to the time zone. The rhythm of the safari (early mornings, afternoon naps) is actually the perfect cure for jet lag. Also, don’t worry about malaria medication side effects; this area is low-risk in winter, but we always recommend consulting your US doctor before travel.
Days 4-7: Cape Town & Table Mountain
From the Bush to the Coast
After a final morning game drive, you will fly directly to Cape Town. You will be transferred by private luxury vehicle to the Cape Grace Hotel. Over the next few days, you will explore the Cape Peninsula and ascend Table Mountain.
Included Activities: Private Cape Peninsula Tour, Table Mountain Cableway tickets, V&A Waterfront access.
💡 Ranger’s Tip: The exchange rate is very favorable for US travelers right now. We recommend booking a dinner at the Test Kitchen Fledgelings or Pot Luck Club—world-class dining for a fraction of New York or LA prices.
Days 8-10: The Franschhoek Winelands
Culinary Excellence
A short private transfer takes you to the French-inspired valley of Franschhoek (“The Napa Valley of South Africa”). Checking into Mont Rochelle, you will spend your final days indulging in South Africa’s finest wines.
Included Activities: Private Wine Tram tour or Sommelier-led tasting at three estate vineyards.
💡 Ranger’s Tip: Many US travelers ask about shipping wine home. Most estates in Franschhoek offer direct shipping to the USA. Ask your guide to point out the vineyards that handle FDA customs clearance for you.
Day 11: Departure
Bon Voyage
Enjoy a final breakfast overlooking the vineyards before your private transfer back to Cape Town International Airport for your connection home.
Seamless Logistics & 24/7 Support
