Everything from the accommodations, the guides, the transport and great communication was 5 star. Ranger Buck representatives are a phone call away and are very responsive. From our arrival at 11h30 PM February 28 to our departure on March 21, Ranger Buck was with us. Our guide, Warren was with us for 4 days in Cape Town. He was professional, knowledgeable and very very friendly, answering all our questions. The custom nature of the tour allows for flexibility. We had a slight issue with our plans, Warren and Maria of Ranger Buck were quick to remedy it and communicate the changes. Table Mountain, the Peninsula Tour and Robben Island are all included and worth every minute. Our group of 4 had 2 hours with Christo Brand, Nelson Mandela’s prison guard, very informative and a highlight of Capetown. Onto Franschhoek and the very entertaining segway tour of the Spier vineyards along with a private tasting in the vineyard.. spectacular. Warren was very helpful in arranging lunch and dinner reservations as we travelled. Ranger Buck arranged all the flights inside Africa, all went smoothly. Onto the first of 3 safaris, 3 days at each. Mala Mala, Kapama and Eagle Island. Each have their own uniqueness in terrain but each share the fingerprint of a very personal experience. I would recommend all of them but try Eagle Island in the wet season beginning in May. It was dry and the grasses very tall, spotting some animals was difficult but our guide Watch persevered and made it a great trip. The Chobe Princess houseboat provides a unique perspective from the top deck, sighting animals along the river is easy. The crew was very accommodating and friendly. With a total of 8 guests, it’s a chance to meet new people and get to know them a bit. Victoria Falls is certainly a world wonder. From the helicopter tour, the walking tour and the sunset cruise Ranger Buck provides a great overview. All in all an unforgettable experience. The price for 22 days is extremely reasonable, I would recommend Ranger Buck (and already have to friends).

The best vacation we’ve ever taken in our lives

Ranger Buck Safaris gave us the best vacation we’ve ever taken in our lives. Maria helped us plan every detail and accommodated our every desire to make this vacation a once in a lifetime experience come true. We wanted to see Cape Town, go on safari and see Victoria Falls. They made sure all of that happened. Our accommodations were perfect, our guides met us at every location, on time, and were truly knowledgeable about what they were showing us, food was great and everyone who we met during our stay was so thoughtful and gracious. What an amazing tour operator
We were four friends that travelled with Ranger Buck Safaris and I was tasked with organising the trip.

I contacted Archie who gave me an insight into Rwanda and what he recommended we do, and he put myself and Lindsay together to finalise the tour.

Lindsay was fantastic. Nothing was too much or ever an issue for her. She got my brief immediately.
My friends and I changed the itinerary a couple of times before we began our holiday to ensure we packed our days with exciting things to do.
And each time I phoned her with additional requests, she made sure they happened.

From the minute we arrived in Rwanda, we were treated like VIPs with our own guide/driver the entire holiday. He made sure we knew what time our tours were taking place. He would be waiting for us at the end of each tour. And he would be ready at our beck and call to take us on our next tour. He taught us so much about Rwanda, the people and the country. He was so professional and experienced.

The hotels that we stayed at were really special. The service that we received was next level.
They were more organised than we were with regard to our trekking with the gorillas.
They provided us with snacks, water, gaiters and rain jackets.
We were lucky enough to trek for a second day. The hotel had our shoes and socks from the day before cleaned and dried for us and ready to be used on our second day of trekking.

If you are thinking of going to Rwanda, I would highly recommend you going with Ranger Buck Safaris.

We had the most amazing and memorable holiday with them.

When looking to book a 2.5-week trip to South Africa, we didn’t really know where to begin. After reaching out to travel agents for some assistance, Archie immediately got in touch with us and scheduled a call to talk us through our options. Archie is super knowledgeable and was attentive to our needs, quickly understanding exactly what we were looking for and putting together a comprehensive itinerary for us. Ranger Buck Safaris arranged a most amazing, memorable trip for nine family members in ages ranging from 20 years old to 75 and every single one enjoyed every single moment that was crafted for us. She was responsive and thoughtful in all of the recommendations she made for us, and her choices did not disappoint. She was even quick to come up with a backup plan on the fly when weather impacted a planned activity. We enjoyed varied experiences from a most impressive, luxury safari to a sidecar ride along the southeastern coast; while also experiencing zip lining, hot air ballooning, a helicopter ride over Victoria Falls, a cruise down the Zambezi River and a hike up to the top of Lions Head just outside of Cape Town. Our hand-selected, local guides provided great insight to the history of the areas we visited and the culture of the beautiful people of South Africa. Our request was quite complex—we moved around a lot and wanted to experience everything. We had a once-in-a-lifetime experience staying in a POD in Sossusvlei. The 3.5-hour transfer from Walvis Bay to Sossusvlei allowed us to truly immerse ourselves in Namibia’s desert landscape. The POD itself was breathtaking—no signs of villages or cities, just us, the desert, and the wildlife, including oryx, hyenas, and birds.” We flew to Zimbabwe to experience the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls. Our itinerary included a guided visit to the falls, a thrilling helicopter flight over the cascades, and a delightful lunch at a restaurant with a view of the falls. Afterwards, we moved downstream to a lodge on the Zambezi River, where we enjoyed a few relaxing nights.”

Each experience was full of learning and an amazing trip overall!

Every part of our trip, including Johannesburg, Mala Mala, Victoria Falls and Cape Town, was well managed and included knowledgeable guides. Each experience was full of learning and an amazing trip overall. The safari in Mala Mala was the highlight where our guide, Nick, did his best to assure we would see all the possible animals in this game reserve. Even last minute adds, like our helicopter tour over Victoria Falls and the hot air balloon ride over wine country in Cape Town, were handled extremely well. I would highly recommend this trip put together by Ranger Bucks! We felt the cost of the trip was very fair, with the fine places we stayed, the management of our time and communication was great.

During the planning they were responsive and helpful, answering all our questions in a timely manner. During the trip they were easy to reach and so helpful! Their service, along with the service at all the places they arranged for us to visit, was fantastic. All of the places they picked for us were amazing…the hotels, the safari lodges, the animals, the activities, the game drives, etc were all top-notch. The food was out of this world. I’m at a complete loss for words when it comes to describing the amazing people that took care of us at the hotels and safari lodges. From the safari guides to the chefs, the greeters to the housekeeping staff…everyone was beyond belief. I really can’t think of the words to express how blown away we were by the level of service and the friendliness of everyone we encountered.

Incredible Package at a Reasonable Price

We used Ranger Buck safaris to plan a trip to Zimbabwe Victoria Falls and Botswana Okavango Delta in March 2024. We could not be happier with the organization, itinerary, ease of communication, and the pricing!

We were visiting from the U.S. but wanted to start with a self-safari at Kruger National Park in South Africa. Therefore, we did not use Ranger Buck for that part of our trip; however, Maria, our safari coordinator, went above and beyond by providing us with some helpful advice for our Kruger trip. After that, Ranger Buck organized everything for the next part of our trip, including flights from Kruger Mpumalanga Airport in South Africa to Victoria Falls, overnight stay at a wonderful hotel in Victoria Falls, evening sunset cruise on the Zambezi river, next morning visit to Victoria Falls, transport to Kasane Airport after that, flight into the Okavango Delta to Machaba Camp (which was absolutely wonderful), three nights at Machaba, then flights back to Gaborone where we departed back to the U.S. (with a tear in our eyes as we did not want to leave).

Prior to travel, I worked with Maria at Ranger Buck Safaris to come up with an itinerary and the level of detail that Maria/Ranger Buck provided in the itinerary was wonderful (detail down to daily snack times, dinner times, etc.). There was a link to our personal online itinerary which also included all necessary documents and information for our trip. The prices were also very reasonable for safaris in Botswana, especially in comparison to what some of the other safaris companies quoted. I highly highly recommend Ranger Buck Safaris and already am looking forward to when we can use their services next!

Fantastic about communicating, arranged everything!

The whole trip from beginning to end was exquisitely planned. It was a massively good value for the money, and the location for the safari was fantastic. It was great to be able to customize the trip and add a trip to Cape Town… and the domestic flights were perfectly timed. The trip could not have gone smoother

I would highly recommend this tour to everyone

The hotel is beautiful. It is very tastefully decorated and relaxing. The food and service in the dining room was top notch. There was a delicious variety of food appealing to many tastes. I often choose vegetarian options and was never disappointed. The safari rangers Jordan and Witness were fantastic. We easily saw the Big 5 in the first few days. They were very knowledgeable and fun. I would highly recommend this tour to everyone.

A great time was had by all

Ranger Buck Safaris arranged the trip of a lifetime for 17 of us. We went on safari at Kapama Private Game Reserve which was an all-inclusive experience. The staff, trackers, drivers, resort and food were excellent. After our stay, we were driven to the airport through the reserve for one last glimpse before flying to Cape Town. A driver was waiting at the airport for us and took us to our next stop at the Table Bay Hotel on the waterfront which was a beautiful place. So many restaurants and stores within walking distance (the mall was even accessible from inside the hotel). We took two personal tours, one to the wine region for two tastings and one along the coast to Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope, then onto Simon’s Town to see the penguins. A great time was had by all and we had no issues.

I am grateful for the opportunity

The experience of darting and micro-chipping a rhino proved to be both emotional and rewarding. Witnessing the breathtaking professionalism of the vet team and the helicopter pilot was truly captivating. The meticulous planning and execution of every possible scenario showcased their expertise. The tactile encounter with the rhino, felling the softness of its forehead and behind the ears, evoked a mix of amazement and sadness, considering the threat these magnificent animals face. A wonderful trip for our family

The Ranger Buck team put together a wonderful trip for our family of 4 to South Africa and Zimbabwe. The trip included 2 safari lodges in Sabi Sands, a trip to Victoria Falls and 5 days in Cape Town. They did an excellent job mapping out the itinerary and making sure all of our need were met. The lodges were wonderful, the tour guides and driver were excellent and we would definitely use them again. They were even available on Christmas Eve when luggage was lost! Our tour was 14 days including travel and we saw all that we could possibly fit into that time frame. We hope to come back one day and thanks to all of the Ranger Buck Team.

Where dreams become a reality

Where dreams become a reality and that is exactly what happened. Thank you, team, for booking us into the Jackalberry Lodge in the Thornybush. We had the overall luxurious African experience. The accommodation allowed us to unwind, had amazing food and 2 game drives every day. Neil even got in 2 bush walks with such knowledgeable guides. The highlight of the trip was that we experienced not only one Lion kill, but two. Right next to the vehicle. Who can say that they have witnessed a kill in the bush and is in a position to rate those kills? Few, but that was us and all I can say is “WoW”. Got the most fantastic, be they a bit gruesome, photographs and the most amazing memories. We will certainly be back and will be booking with your team soon again, as you always know how to make us feel spoilt and special.”

Everything was perfect!

From arriving in South Africa to taking internal flights to the Safari and to Zimbabwe and lastly to Capetown. The accommodation & food was also great. The trip was seamless and we just have to focus on having fun and enjoying the entire trip. It was our first trip to Africa and we really had the best times of our life!
We were initially very worried about the crime rate and traveling as 2 girls but Archie really assured us that we will be kept safe. We booked the trip from Singapore & communicated with Archie & Lindsey before deciding to pay a deposit. No regrets taking up this private tour and highly recommend everyone to get a Safari expert team to plan your Africa trip! We had time constraint and was too busy with work to plan it on our own, hence we felt that it was the best decision made to leave it in good hands of the experts to plan the itinerary. Excellent value for money

I can not give Ranger Buck Safaris enough credit

I can not give Ranger Buck Safaris enough credit for their help in making our trip so amazing.
7 of us travelled to South Africa – they found the impossible – 10 seater van out of East London – spotless, brand new – no one else could find one for us….they did.
We stayed at Mala Mala – Rattrays – Archie Rutherford and Lindsay Doubtfire were so patient with finding us the perfect place for our budget – they never got irritated – as did the previous agent – they were patient and we had a lot of requests. We will definitely be using them again and I’m already referring other family and friends – they are honest and trustworthy and made our trip seamless!

Can’t praise Ranger Buck Safaris enough

Can’t praise Ranger Buck Safaris enough. Our trip to Africa was probably not the normal trip most groups book.. The back story: My youngest daughter was getting married to a young man whose family was originally from South Africa. Instead of a big wedding they wanted our two families to take a trip together to South Africa. Because of the grooms family’s familiarity with South Africa we did not need or want a packaged trip. We wanted to be in control of what we did and where we went. We just needed Ranger Buck Safaris to make some reservations, arrange some hotel bookings, arrange some intra African airfares, and book our Safari for us. There were other aspects of our two week trip we wanted to handle ourselves. Ranger Buck Safaris was able to arrange everything we asked—all we had to do was supply the dates. They were responsive to our requests and we never had to wait long for an answer even though we were communicating from the USA and dealing with a seven hour time difference. They even went above and beyond and were able to find us a brand new ten passenger van so we could all travel together. Working with them was great. I will definitely use them again for our next African adventure.

Superb throughout and a brilliant host on the trip

Our trip to Tanzania with a group of seven friends was hosted by Archie Rutherford from Ranger Buck Safaris and we had the most incredible experience. We flew into Arusha via Dar-es-salaam and transferred to the Lions Paw Lodge on the Ngorongoro crater rim. The accommodation was very good, but most importantly, quick and simple access to the crater floor and the most amazing game viewing experience and scenery. From there we drove up through the Serengeti National park and stayed overnight at Sametu Camp in the Centre of the Park. Endless wide open grass plains with plenty of game and very good food and friendly staff at the lodge. Our final stop was the north of the park at the Serengeti Mara River Camp, where we got to see huge numbers of wildebeest and three spectacular river crossings. Three day later we flew back to Arusha and back to Johannesburg through Dar es Salaam. Overall the experience was incredible and very good value for money. The only thing I would change is potentially flying one of the legs up through the park as opposed to driving, but the accommodation, service and the staff at the lodges was excellent. Ranger Buck Safaris was superb throughout and a brilliant host on the trip. Hope to do it all again someday.

When you plan a Bucket List trip you need to pick your operator wisely! Ranger Buck Safari’s came highly recommended with good support from the online reviews. We were fortunate enough to have Ranger Buck himself join us on the trip. It is only when you spend time with the operator that you truly understand the effort that Ranger Buck Safari’s put into their trips, attention to comfort and detail taken to a next level! Airport lounge access for all on departure, snacks for the flight, comfortable ground transport with ice cold “refreshments” on arrival, sim cards for wi-fi (not sure if this was good or bad), hand picked lodges, extras on the house that included several bush drives, bush meals, snack packs and as always the odd “refreshment”. The Ngorongoro crater with its abundance of wildlife followed by multiple crossings of wildebeest through the Mara river was truly unforgettable and does not need any motivation. Hot air ballooning in the Serengeti, an absolute must! In summary it is always pleasant if a trip you dreamed of exceeds your expectations!”

I’ve got a big kuddos to Ranger Buck Safaris for creating an unforgettable experience for my family. Whether is was the last minute charity requests to Soweto. Or a shark dive and securing a chopper to make it happen. Or having Christo Brand (Mandela’s Warden) give us a private tour of Robben Island. Or organising a massive Rhino conservancy experience. Or organising private charter flights to make all the above happen without any friction. As Hemingway said “If I’ve ever seen magic, it has been in Africa.” And that’s how I feel about Archie and the team. They just don’t believe in saying no… and the more I tested them, the more they relished the challenge. It was an incredible experience and truly legendary service.

We asked for first class and we got it

We asked for first class and we got it. Private planes, helicopters and drivers everywhere we went. We stayed at the best hotels and we even had Nelson Mandela’s jailer give us a tour of Robben Island. Archie checked in with us almost daily. We were treated incredibly well.

An experience not to be forgotten

We had an incredible time at Dulini

We had an incredible time at Dulini. We were lucky enough to see the martial eagle which is the biggest known eagle in South Africa as well as a leopard and a lion kill. Truly amazing. Thank you very much for arranging the upgrade. Dulini is highly recommended.

We had a most interesting and informative time

We had a most interesting and informative time at Lion Sands River Lodge. It really is a lovely “modern” lodge – the architecture combines a little of the usual “bush” lodge but the real focus is on clean lines and letting in as much light and views as possible. The staff were excellent, and the rangers simply superb – amongst the best we have ever experienced. Thank you very much for arranging this trip for us – we will be sure to recommend you to others!

What a wonderful bush experience!

What a wonderful bush experience! Mountain biking in the Timbavati…there is no better way to experience the bush. All our rangers were fantastic with a vast knowledge of the flora and fauna….even survival tips, should we one day be stranded in the bush. Highly recommend Bateleur Safari Camp, very comfortable accommodation and the best game viewing. Thanks, Ranger Buck for helping us discover this gem in the Lowveld!

Once in a lifetime safari getaway

I used Ranger Buck Safaris for a once in a lifetime safari getaway in the Northern parts of the Sabi Sands Game Reserve. It was spectacular. Lindsay was really helpful, meticulous and very professional in all our dealings. She sent us documents way beforehand, directions etc. She also booked us flights through FedAir which was a delight!

Absolutely exceptional

We have been fortunate to experience a MTB ride in the Kruger, which was absolutely exceptional. From the accommodation, organisation, guiding, food, evening boma social, to the once in a life time experience to ride your MTB in the bush, and experience up close and personal encounters with the wildlife.
